Not sure about that one. Bill Hybels produced a book called 'who you are when no-one looking' - but he's unlikely to be the source.
Blaise Pascal (always good for a quotation) has a take on this: "The strength of a man's virtue should not be measured by his special exertions, but by his habitual acts." I might use that one again!
Hey guys, I do quote searches a lot for hubby;...here's some that I found...
Character is doing the right thing when nobody's looking. There are too many people who think that the only thing that's right is to get by, and the only thing that's wrong is to get caught. ~J.C. Watts
The measure of a man's real character is what he would do if he knew he never would be found out. ~Thomas Babington Macaulay
Our character is what we do when we think no one is looking. ~Quoted in P.S. I Love You, compiled by H. Jackson Browne
Our character is what we do when we think no one is looking. Author: Karl Otto von Schonhausen Bismarck Source: of Napoleon III, while minister to Paris
